LORO-X for multi-storey car park and parking deck drainage
Trafficable and walkable drains with impact-resistant pipe system
Car park drainage
Trafficable and walkable drains with break-proof pipe system
The particularity of draining car parks is that the full amount of rainhas to be drained from the top level. While the lower, drivable levels are not exposed to direct rain, they still have to be completely drained e. g. due to the sidewise entering rain as well as the water that is carried into the car park by cars and for cleaning measures. Special solutions and proven installation details provided by LORO offer an initial orientation.
Furthermore, wastewater and ventilation pipes often have to be installed under ceilings, on walls, on pillars or on the outside facade. Besides functional requirements also security aspects such as the protection against mechanical influences (DIN 1986) come into focus.
Of course, the pipe routing shall also satisfy esthetic requirements. Especially for functional buildings where steel and concrete are used as main material LORO offers reliable solutions.

How is a car park roof drained?
To ensure that car park users do not have to walk through the rain from their car into the building, the top drivable level is often completely or partially roofed over. As this roof is not driven on, a normal parapet or flat roof drainage can be planned.
The drainage and in particular the pipe routing is therefore always optimised for the specific project. The planning of the roof drainage system and the selection of suitable drains is carried out here as for a normal roof in lightweight construction, as solid concrete roofs are rarely used.
Depending on the given situation, a single large area is drained, for example with efficient siphonic flow, or several smaller partial areas are drained by gravity flow with larger nominal diameters.
As the roof is fully loaded even during a so-called century rain, emergency drainage with discharge to the open air must be provided for the safety of visitors. Piped systems are preferable to simple spouts here, as an overflowing roof area with spouts would have a negative impact on the levels below.
How are drivable levels drained?
The special feature of car parks lies in the design of the drivable levels. For drivable areas, LORO ceiling drains in one- or two-piece design, with walkable or drivable grating – grating class L (1.5 t) or grating class M (12.5 t) – are particularly suitable.
Often, for example, a steel frame with waterproof concrete slabs is used, which are provided with special coatings suitable for regular traffic.
Ideally, the suitable drain is selected early in the planning phase so that it can already be cast into the floor slab at the precast concrete plant.
Drivable drains
If a positioning of the drain in a drivable area is necessary, the LORO-X Series DRAINLET or VERSAL with drivable strainer unit are used.
Alternatively, the drivable strainer unit with DN 100 connector can also be directly encased in concrete without the drain body but with the formwork dome.
The LORO-X steel discharge pipe can be directly connected to the drivable strainer unit.
Which walkable drains are available?
As the basic structure of the concrete slabs with plastic/liquid coating is similar to that of a balcony and only relatively small amounts of water have to be drained, LORO-X balcony drains for waterproof concrete or for concrete with liquid plastic have proven themselves – for example Series I and Series GF.
These drains are usually used in areas that are not driven on but should be walkable.
Special solutions
Individual car park structures often require special connections and pipe routings. Thus, LORO provides an extensive range of drains, pipes and fittings which allows the realization of almost any special construction.
If the combination of standard components is not sufficient, often small changes on the construction lead to an exact fit. Additional security measures such as screw connections at the drain strainers against theft are also possible.

LORO-X Composite pipe
In urban areas, rainwater drainage is often routed from the roof through the warm, used rooms into the cold underground car park below and then into the underground drain pipe. The cold from the underground car park should, as far as possible, not be transferred to the rooms above.
The thermally insulated LOROFLEX flat roof penetration, in combination with the continuing composite pipe, offers a thermally insulated, visually appealing solution that is resistant to mechanical stress.
Especially when underground car parks or above-ground car parks are used by many parties or customers, LORO-X steel discharge pipes and LORO-X composite pipes additionally provide lasting protection against vandalism or accidental damage.
LORO-X Steel discharge pipe
Impact-resistant, break-resistant and safe against vandalism
As the drainage in car parks is usually installed visibly and to a large extent within reach of users, there are special requirements for the appearance and safety of the pipe system. Solid hot-dip galvanised LORO-X steel discharge pipes offer long-term protection against vandalism and environmental influences.
As they are also particularly impact-resistant and dimensionally stable, installation in the parking area of cars is possible without elaborate collision protection.
Also decisive for complaint-free operation over decades is the permanently attractive hot-dip galvanised appearance, which is not impaired by weather and UV radiation.
LORO-X steel discharge pipes can be optimally connected to our drains or combined with existing gutters outdoors to ensure the safe drainage of water across all levels.
