Bridge drainage
In the field of bridge drainage, special technical requirements apply in order to ensure long-term safety and functionality. The dynamic loads to which bridges are exposed through traffic, mechanical vibrations and environmental influences such as sun, rain, snow, frost and wind, as well as chemical and corrosive loads, must be taken into account when fixing the pipe system, namely by mounting it flexibly or decoupling it.
Steel and stainless steel
Particular attention is also paid to the choice of material for the pipe system depending on the type of bridge. The different pipe materials have different coefficients of thermal expansion, which can lead to expansions of varying magnitude when the temperature changes. For this reason, pipe systems made of steel and stainless steel are particularly suitable, as their thermal properties are comparable to those of the bridge structure made of steel or concrete.
- For railway bridges, hot-dip galvanised steel and stainless steel have proven their worth.
- For motorway and sea bridges, the use of stainless steel 1.4404 is recommended due to the salts to be expected.
- For media conduits, such as conduits for electrical installations, the material is selected in accordance with the specific requirements of the media to be carried.
