Connection collars
for connection to the waterproofing membrane
A connection membrane or connection collar is used to bond the outlet to the existing waterproofing membrane. First the outlet is bonded to the connection membrane, which is then bonded to the surrounding sheet waterproofing membrane in a second step.
Assessing whether and in what form the selected connection collar is fundamentally compatible with the waterproofing membranes used on site is the responsibility of the planning and installing companies, as they have all the details relevant to the individual decision. Please observe our installation instructions.
Outlets with connection collar
LORO balcony drainage systems, series E, F and H, as well as flat-roof outlets of series O, are factory-fitted with backflow-proof clamped connection collars.
Before placing your order, the material of the desired connection collar must be specified and it must be checked whether the ordered connection collar is compatible with the waterproofing membrane used (see table).
The connection collar then only has to be bonded on site to the waterproofing membrane used on the roof or balcony.
As standard - if no specification is made when ordering - LORO fits the high-quality connection collar RESITRIX CL, which according to the manufacturer is suitable for bonding to bituminous waterproofing membranes and is described as follows: "RESITRIX® CL is a hot-air weldable waterproofing membrane based on the synthetic rubber EPDM with a glass scrim insert. The underside is provided with a polymer-modified bitumen layer with an additional fine-quartz coating."
After delivery and immediately before installation, it must be checked whether any damage has occurred to the connection collar during transport to the site or through handling on site.
To protect the connection collars during the construction phase before waterproofing work is carried out, they are folded together at the factory and protected by a film. In this condition it is not possible to drain rainwater. If rainwater has to be discharged during this construction phase, the connection collars must be unfolded. In this case, protective measures must be taken on site to avoid damage to the connection collar.
