The supporting rim is the encircling edge of a defined width around a drain that transfers the loads of the pipe system onto the base plate or structural elements. The supporting rim serves to provide support where recesses are present, or to ensure better fixing on formwork during concrete works.

The rims of LORO balcony drainage systems, series A, B, BE, G, GF and J, are therefore intended solely for support where recesses are present, or for better fixing on formwork during concrete works.

The dimensions of the supporting rims do not comply with DIN EN 1253, so the supporting rim must not be used as a connection point for waterproofing membranes.
