LORO-X Drainage Systems for High-Rise Buildings
With pressure-resistant LORO-X roof and balcony drainage systems
High-rise buildings with great fall heights exceeding 22 metres place the highest demands on drainage technology. LORO offers complete systems from a single source, precisely tailored to these requirements – from roof surfaces via facades and terraces all the way down to the underground drainage.
Pressure-Resistant Steel Drain Pipes
LORO-X steel drain pipes with push-fit socket connections have been in use for decades in high-rise buildings with fall heights exceeding 100 metres. Hot-dip galvanised steel and stainless steel offer several advantages: the pipe systems are inherently temperature-stable and perform reliably even with large temperature differences between roof and basement. At the same time, the high material density ensures excellent sound insulation – a decisive quality factor, especially in residential and office high-rises. Where particularly quiet operation is required, the LORO-X Silent composite pipes provide additional acoustic optimisation.
For secure fastening at great heights, the XP pressure pipe clamps and safety clamps are available. They are specifically designed for high pressure loads and ensure that the entire pipework remains reliably secured even when the downpipe is completely filled.
Balcony and Terrace Drainage
Balconies and terraces in tall buildings require well-considered drainage planning. LORO offers a wide range of balcony drainage systems – from floor-level solutions to heated drains for frost-prone areas.
A particularly elegant solution for buildings with stepped storeys is cascading drainage: the rainwater is guided step by step from the upper to the lower levels.
Siphonic Drainage for Large Roof Areas
For high-rise buildings with larger roof areas, the LORO-X DRAINJET siphonic drainage systems offer decisive advantages. By utilising the negative pressure principle, significantly smaller pipe dimensions and fewer downpipes are needed compared to conventional gravity drainage. The collector pipes can also be installed without gradient, which increases the usable room height within the building.

From Bundesliga stadiums and international airports to the tallest office towers in Germany – planners and architects have trusted LORO for decades. Our service team assists with the individual design of even complex special constructions.
Project Reports
Learn more about completed LORO-X high-rise projects: The EDGE East Side Tower in Berlin (140 m) was realised with cascading terrace drainage – a project with DGNB Platinum certification and a 135 m³ collection basin for rainwater harvesting. The Skyper in Frankfurt (154 m, 38 storeys) uses LORO-X parapet drainage with particularly high downpipes. Further high-rise projects can be found in our references.
Planning standards: DIN 1986-100 (in particular section 6.3.1 for buildings over 22 m), DIN EN 12056-3, VDI 3806, DIN 4109.
LORO High-Rise Drainage
The Skyper is one of the most distinctive high-rises in the Frankfurt skyline. At 154 meters height and 38 floors, the building poses special demands on drainage systems.
LORO-X parapet drainage and particularly high downpipes ensure reliable discharge of rainwater from the roof areas and terraces of the high-rise.
