LORO-X Fill-a-Vent
Fill and ventilation pipe for roof drainage systems
LORO-DRAINJET emergency outlets have a weir beneath the dome at which the water is dammed up on the roof, so that discharge to the outside takes place only in an emergency.
With emergency drainage using the LORO-X Fill-a-Vent pipe, the emergency outlet has no weir. The two outlets, which together serve as the primary and emergency drainage, discharge jointly through two pipes into the same vessel, which
2a) can be a collecting vessel of a parapet drainage system. (Figure 6 of the European patent application, application example DUOFLUX)
2b) can be a vessel arranged above ground. (Figure 8, open vessel, application example Power dome)
2c) can be a vessel arranged below ground. (Figure 7, closed vessel. Application example standard dome and high-bay warehouse)
In all cases the water runs through the bottom opening out of the vessel as primary drainage into the underground pipe. In an emergency, discharge above ground to the outside takes place once the water build-up limit value (h) is exceeded.
In accordance with the patent application, the LORO-X Fill-a-Vent fill and ventilation pipe has the function of metering the discharge through the primary drainage in such a way that the primary drainage reliably remains a gravity (free-surface) flow with partial filling and full filling cannot occur (Fill = filling).
The system is dimensioned in such a way that, at maximum emergency drainage, the primary drainage does not exceed the maximum permissible value for the discharge of the gravity (free-surface) flow, so that no overloading of the gravity flow of the primary drainage can occur, not even at maximum discharge through the emergency drainage.
And secondly, the LORO-X Fill-a-Vent pipe provides ventilation of the gravity (free-surface) pipe, so that pressure equalisation of the air pressure between inside and outside is ensured and no negative pressure can build up, meaning that a syphonic (negative-pressure) flow is also ruled out.
The problem is that one has old underground pipes that are undersized, and large quantities of water first have to be retained or routed to the outside via emergency drainage systems.
With the LORO-X Fill-a-Vent pipe, the planner has the option of operating a certain degree of rainwater retention, or of realising the high-performance emergency drainage from a certain point onwards without any increase in the primary drainage.
The diameter of the LORO-X Fill-a-Vent pipe can be varied, so that the ratio of primary to emergency drainage can be adjusted.
