LORO-X Pipe Penetrations for Flat Roofs

LORO-X System Vents, Pipe Penetrations and Cable Penetrations

Flat roof penetrations from LORO made of hot-dip galvanized steel, or solid stainless steel, have proven to be sustainable and safe penetrations for drain pipes, ventilation pipes and cables. Over the decades, new solutions have been developed to suit almost every flat roof construction:

- LOROFLEX with sliding flange for pushing through the pipe
- DRAINLET with socket chamber for inserting the pipe

Stack Ventilation

The challenge with stack ventilation and flat roof penetration lies in secure and permanent sealing. This requires consideration of the permanent effects of weather and the loads from the roof structure itself - especially with utilized roofs or green roofs.

The high-quality and sustainable materials steel and stainless steel are ideal due to their high resistance to external influences.

What Types of Pipe Penetrations Are There?

Media-Carrying Penetration

For pipe penetrations, a fundamental distinction is made as to whether the penetration pipe itself is media-carrying - as is common with drainage and ventilation - or whether the solid LORO-X pipe penetration is only used as a protective conduit for other vulnerable electrical or internet cables, hoses or plastic pipes.

Cable Penetration

For cable penetrations through the roof, so-called "gooseneck" constructions are often used at the outlet on the roof, which prevent rain from entering the cable penetration. From the LORO-X steel drainage pipes range, various bends in all nominal diameters are available for this purpose, so that even thicker or multiple cables are no problem.

Protective Conduit

LORO-X steel drainage pipes are often also used as protective conduits in areas after the pipe penetration, for example as continued protection of electrical cables in the entire visible area. On one hand as protection of the cable bundles from mechanical influences and on the other hand for aesthetic reasons.

Cable Penetrations for Solar and Photovoltaics

LORO-X Flat Roof Penetrations for Sustainable Energy

For photovoltaic and solar systems, LORO offers safe flat roof penetrations from DN 70 to DN 150. For new buildings and for retrofitting PV systems with subsequent cable penetration through flat roofs.

The flexible LORO-X socket and the wide range of fittings offers maximum freedom on the roof for cable routing. From the roof penetration to the PV modules with weather and UV resistant LORO-X steel drainage pipes.

Inside the Building or Out of the Building?

When pipe penetrations through walls and ceilings inside the building are required, special demands are often placed on fire protection. LORO offers pipe penetrations approved by general building authority approval (AbZ) made of insulated composite pipes, which can be easily implemented according to the practical installation instructions of the AbZ.

Penetrations through the external walls of the building above ground level do not present a major problem. However, if the penetration leads from the basement to the outside, the pipe penetration is also sealed against pressurized water. Pressure-resistant and backflow-proof LORO-X steel drainage pipes can be easily routed from the building in the gravel bed, or with the usual protective coatings according to standards, also in the adjacent soil.

LOROFLEX Flat Roof Penetration with Sliding Flange

The name LOROFLEX illustrates the advantage of the pipe penetration based on one sliding flange (cold roof) or two sliding flanges (warm roof), through which the LORO-X composite pipe can be "flexibly" pushed through.

As an insulated flat roof penetration for rainwater drainage or for ventilation pipes, the universal clamping flange of the LOROFLEX sliding flanges offers secure sealing for waterproofing membranes and vapor barriers made of bitumen or plastic.

Pipe Penetration for Watertight Concrete

LORO offers special pipe penetrations with puddle flange for watertight concrete. Especially when concreting on site, penetrations with puddle flange provide increased safety, as there is usually no additional waterproofing layer with watertight concrete and any seeping water is stopped by the circumferential puddle flange.

The LORO-X socket can protrude from the concrete or be cast flush. Special socket protective caps prevent liquid concrete from entering the pipe penetration during the construction phase when installed flush.

With Thermal Insulation

The new roof and wall penetration with integrated thermal insulation for roofs made of watertight concrete offers a factory-applied insulation layer, so that cold water (in flat roof drainage) or cold air (in ventilation) is kept in the media-carrying inner pipe.

Following the proven principle of LORO-X composite pipes, the space between the media-carrying inner pipe and the outer pipe equipped with puddle flange is filled with an insulating layer of 2K-PU foam at the factory.

Small Wall Distance for Roof and Ceiling Penetrations

The versatile pipe penetration based on the proven LORO-X DRAINLET flat roof drains offers special possibilities for code-compliant pipe penetrations with small distance to the wall and to rising building elements.

With the specially designed top elements with lateral upstand as installation aid, installation directly at the rising wall is possible. As known from parapet drains, without having to maintain the otherwise usual distance of 30 cm for water-bearing layers.

The special LORO-X ventilation pipes made of stainless steel with tapered spigot end fit optimally into the flange of the DRAINLET pipe penetration, so that gases and odors can be transferred to the wind at least 1/2 meter above the waterproofing level.

The optional use of a rain hood is no longer required for the venting and ventilation of wastewater pipes according to current standards, as "raining in" into the wastewater downpipe is accepted in favor of optimal ventilation with full cross-section.

Roof Vents for Double-Shell Roofs

Non-cross-ventilated double-shell roofs, in which the air space between the two shells must be connected to the outside air through sufficiently dimensioned intake and exhaust openings, require special vents that simultaneously prevent water ingress. Specifically for these double-shell roofs with insulation and air layer in between, the LORO vent for mounting is used. It ensures the airflow through the roof structure.

The LORO-X roof vent consists of an "inverted", i.e. downward-pointing, long socket with circumferentially attached connection edge for connecting the waterproofing.

At the upper end of the roof vent, ventilation openings are circumferentially incorporated that allow lateral ventilation. As protection against rain, a domed hood covers the pipe and thus ensures the airflow through the roof structure.

Connection Pieces for Spiral Seam Pipes

for connection to LORO-X pipe penetrations

When a ventilation duct made of spiral seam pipe is used inside the building, the question of a dimensionally stable roof penetration often arises.

The proven pipe penetrations from LORO are particularly suitable for permanently tight penetration through the flat roof.

The PDF shown alongside displays the matching connection pieces from LORO-X steel drainage pipe to standard spiral seam pipes from DN 80 to DN 300 with article numbers.

For safety, the exact dimensions of the spiral seam pipe used should be checked before ordering.
